Handling Difficult Conversations

Our most popular workshop, Handling Difficult Conversations in the Managing for Performance Program is being re-run on Monday 2 September.

Many people avoid having difficult conversations with people at work: with our staff, our supervisors, and our colleagues. Many of us avoid it because we are fearful of the consequences regardless of our role or who initiated the conversation. The more anxious we become about the conversation, the more likely we are to avoid it and finally, if forced to initiate or participate in it, the more problematic the outcome is. While these conversations may not feel comfortable, they are important if the situation is to improve.

The aim of this workshop is to enable you to initiate and respond effectively in difficult conversations primarily at work although much of what we will focus on in the workshop will apply in areas of your life beyond work.

  • Enhance your capacity to handle a range of difficult conversations and maintain effective working relationships
