UTS Ally training

7 March, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

A group of UTS staff and students preparing to take part in the 2018 Sydney Mardi Gras parade. They are holding two signs. One reads YES to being an ally and the other YES to being gay.

The UTS Ally Program sets out to develop a visible network of empathetic people who are allies of students and staff identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex or queer – those belonging to a sexual or gender minority. The UTS Ally Program creates awareness of issues related to gender, sexuality and body diversity through supporting the rights of all students and staff and in celebrating an inclusive, diverse and safe university community based on respect and dignity.

The session will cover challenges and issues faced by the LGBTIQ+ community and aims to provide strategies to challenge homophobia, transphobia and heteronormativity in the university environment, and will qualify you as a UTS Ally.

Please contact Jess McGowan at the UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion if you’re interested in attending this training: Jessica.McGowan@uts.edu.au
